In science class, we dissected a frog. From this lab, I have learned alot. It helped me understand both the human and frog bodies. We found the heart, kidneys, lungs, the stomach, and many more organs. We even got to open the mouth and see the tounge. The dissection was very fun and educational.
The dissection helped me understand the organs and their functions. For example, I now know that the kidneys are filters for the body. The lungs take in oxygen and release carbon dioxide. Also, the heart pumps blood throughout the body. I also got to see where the organs are all placed in a frog bodies. The kidneys are by the back of the frog. The lungs and the heart are right by each other. Overall the dissection experience was helped me understand the human and frog body.

Digestion Lab
On Monday and Tuesday, our class did a digestion lab. We took egg whites, acid, enzymes, and water and made examples of digestion. In beaker A the enzymes alone didnt do any major changes. In B, which was water and enzyme, the enzymes mixed into the water. Beaker C had only acid. The acid didn't really do anything either. Lastly, in D, which was acid and enzymes, the egg whites started to slowly breakdown. All in all, this lab let me understand the digestion system more clearly.

Chicken Wing
Today in class, our teacher disected a chicken wing. She did this to show us examples of tissues. I think this experiment helped me understand tissues more. I feel this way because it put an image into my head. throughout the disection i saw skin, fat, muscle, ligaments, cartilages, and nerves. Thesen were pretty cool to see, but at the same time disgusting. Anyway, this experiment was cool and gross at the same time.

10/11/11 Lab
Today in class, we did a chemical reaction. In my opinion, this lab was ok. I felt that it was intresting to see the cornstarch and water mixture turn purple in some areas. However I thought it would be a bigger reaction. Overall, the lab was fun especially since I got to work with my friends.

Giant Prehistoric Ants
http://www.sciencenews.org/view/generic/id/74767/title/FOR_KIDS_When_the_giant_ants_went_marching
Scientists in Tennessee have discovered an oversize ant wing. They believe giant ants used to roam the earth before the time of humans! The scientists say that the ants crossed the Atlantic, which could be an example of how other species got to other continents. This discovery can be pretty hard to believe, but i defiantly believe it because it isn't everyday you find a huge ant wing. Overall, from seeing this discovery, what do you think happened?

Tornado Hits Joplin!
Joplin, Missouri is a small town on the western border of Missouri. It was a town that not everyone heard of until yesterday. A huge tornado touch down injuring many and killing, so far, 119! The tornado's width was more than 1 mile wide. St. John's Regional Medical Center was right in the tornado's path. Reports say that x-rays from the hospital were found in the next county! The sate's emergency center said that 30% of the town was destroyed. Many houses and buildings were completely destroyed and some were blown away! Rescuers have found victims under the destroyed houses. On the bright side, rescuers saved a tiny kitten from the debris.

Soaring Straws
In the soaring straws experiment my partner and I discovered many things. For example, our rocket went higher with the more stretch. Also we realized that that the bigger amount of stretch, the bigger your G.P.E will be. This experiment showed that when the rocket is released, it only has kinetic energy, not G.P.E or E.P.E. Lastly, we found that the rocket could be able to go even higher then the ceiling!
The manipulated variable is the stretch because you change it. The responding is the height because when the stretch is changed so is the height. Also the amount of stretch is related to the elastic potential energy. The rocket has a mass of 1.5 grams. In conclusion, this experiment showed to bond between mass, stretch, and height.

Earlier Than The T-Rex!
A team of scientists discovered that the Tyrannosaurus Rex had a much older relative called the Endromaeus. The name means dawn runner and its fossil was discovered in Argentina. The area is now a park, but millions of years ago it was the home of this dinosaur. Scientists also now that this dinosaur isn't completely gone, it has its cousins, birds! This discovery tells scientists that there could have been earlier life then this dinosaur. All in all, I think that this discovery is one for the books because I believe that there is many more discoveries of new dinosaurs to come!

New Earth-Like Planet!
In this article I found out that there is another rocky planet just like Earth. The planet is called Kepler-10b and it is 565 light years away from our planet. It rotates around the Kepler star and it is much bigger than Earth. It is very hot, hot enough to melt a rock, so obviously we cannot live there. Also there is no liquid water there because it is way to hot. Lastly, I think that this discovery is a huge part of our history because we now know that there could be other planets like Earth, Mars, and Kepler-10b!
